Mahmud Hussain, Ph.D.

Research Scientist, Protein Engineering

Mahmud is a part of the Core Technology team at Precision, where his work is primarily focused on Antibody Engineering for adoptive T-cell therapy. He comes to Precision from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he did his postdoctoral work in engineering intracellular biologic-inhibitors to modulate multiple cell signaling networks. Mahmud brings in a decade of experience in protein engineering research. His prior experience entails molecular evolution using structural bioinformatics together with display technologies (phage, yeast and mRNA display). Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mahmud received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), and earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from North Carolina State University. When not in the lab, Mahmud spends most of his time with his wife and son exploring the bounties of nature. He also enjoys playing cricket, reading detective stories and hoping that someday, he might actually be adept in playing guitar.
