Ilka Arias

Research Assistant, In Vivo Models

Ilka is part of the Central Resources team, where she develops in vivo study models to support research programs across Precision. Ilka comes to Precision from Charles River Laboratories in Boston. At Charles River, she worked as a rodent veterinary technician, specializing in rodent training, handling, and controlled/non-controlled drug ordering for the facility. In this position Ilka worked closely with the clinical veterinarian and fellow researchers. She has experience working with many animal models from rodents to non-human primates. Ilka has specialized in rodent injections, blood collection, tissue harvest, and animal welfare reporting. She received her BS degree in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has also obtained her LAT (laboratory animal technician) certificate and completed the Lean Management course where she received her White Belt. When Ilka is not having fun in the lab, she can be found hanging out at home with her two dogs, watching “Friends” re-runs, or hiking the beautiful North Carolina greenery.
