Gary Owens

Senior Research Associate

Gary is part of the Therapeutic Discovery group at Precision. Prior to joining the team, Gary used his molecular biology skills to develop viral vector vaccines for biodefense at AlphaVax, and characterize large and small molecules delivered via nanoparticles at Liquida Technologies and Envisia Therapeutics. Gary earned his B.S. in Biology from Campbell University and his Master’s degree from East Carolina University, studying the ribosomal genes of Gray Tree Frogs. He and his wife Leilani moved to Durham in 2001 way before it was the cool place to be, and have since multiplied with 3 children, 2 dogs and a Cat. When he is not in the lab cloning, Gary can often be found in the middle of nowhere sleeping in his hammock or floating in his kayak.
