Victor Bartsevich, Ph.D.

Director of Genome Editing Technology Development

Victor joined Precision BioSciences in 2010. With 18 years of academic and industry experience in protein engineering and molecular evolution, Victor is an expert in combinatorial library approaches for selection and optimization of proteins for industrial and therapeutic applications. Working at Precision he helped develop the ARCUS meganuclease platform. Before joining Precision, Victor was working on directed evolution of microproteins at Amunix, and development of cell-based therapies at SanBio. As a Scientist at Sangamo BioSciences and a postdoctoral research associate with Dr. R. Juliano at the University of North Carolina, he participated in development of zinc finger protein technology for genome editing and gene expression regulation. Victor holds a M.S. degree in Physics from the National Research Nuclear University (former Moscow Engineering Physics Institute), Russia, and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the N. Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. When Victor is not in the lab, he’s either fishing or traveling to exotic, sunny locations (where he’ll do some fishing).
