Cameron Turtle, MBBS, PhD

Cameron Turtle is an associate member at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and an associate professor at the University of Washington. He is an attending physician on the Immunotherapy Service and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) Service at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). He specializes in treating blood diseases with cellular immunotherapies and HSCT. A leader in the field of immuno-oncology and novel T cell therapies, Turtle has led multiple CAR T clinical trials against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Dr. Turtle earned his M.B.B.S. (medical degree) at the University of Sydney and his PhD at the University of Queensland. Throughout his career, he has worked to develop therapies in which immune T cells are redirected to be able to kill cancer cells. He also studies approaches to boost recovery of the immune system and the ability of T cells to fight cancer after HSCT and chemotherapy. Understanding the characteristics of distinct subsets of human T cells, including their different roles in immunotherapy and in immune reconstitution after HCT, has been a central aspect of his research efforts.
